‘Snakefest’ – the launch of Snake Condoms in Mildura
The very first launch of SNAKE Condoms took place in Mildura on 28th April, 2004. “Snakefest” – as it was called - was a free concert and around 2,000 members of the local community turned up to support the event. There were performances by Shakaya, Mercury 4 as well as hip hop artists Brothablack, Little G and R’n'B singer, Dalys. Actor, Aaron Pedersen was one of the MCs for the day. Thousands of people braved the searing heat to celebrate the launch and the whole community thought it was a huge success.
Since Mildura, SNAKE has been launched in three other communities in Victoria: in Shepparton with the Rhumbalara Aboriginal Health Service, in Bairnsdale with the Gippsland and East Gippsland Aboriginal Cooperative and in Melbourne with the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service.
Interstate launches in 2007
The first SNAKE launch outside of Victoria was in Dalby, QLD in March 2007. The Goondir Health Service did an amazing job in sourcing their own funding, organising the event, creating an advertising campaign and training a network of SNAKE Charmers to increase the availability of SNAKE in the community.

The next interstate launch was held in Kalgoorlie, WA in September 2007. Population Health organised an amazing karaoke and dance night as part of their NAIDOC week celebrations and engaged other local community services to become involved as well.
